The new generation of coffee lovers expects more than just a webshop. They expect an overview of all the tools, certainty that the tool fits their machine at home, and also a bit of experience/vibe. For Barista Essentials, I designed an e-commerce experience that not only inspires but also guides. From discovery to purchase, the platform helps users make the right choice faster, smarter, and with more confidence.
The biggest obstacle when purchasing coffee accessories is compatibility.
Will this product fit my machine? It’s a question that often creates hesitation.
Instead of leaving users to figure out which accessories are suitable on their own, I introduced filtering based on the brand and model of their espresso machine. On the product page, a smart compatibility check provides an extra layer of certainty before purchase.
By immediately personalising the experience based on the user’s machine:
• Irrelevant products are eliminated
• Choice overload is reduced
• Purchase confidence increases
• Returns decrease
• Conversion rates improve
This transforms the webshop from a static catalogue into a smart assistant that actively guides users toward the right decision.
By introducing a smart compatibility check at product level, an extra layer of assurance is added at exactly the right moment.
Subtle yet effective, it increases confidence at the critical decision point, whether or not to proceed with the purchase. At the same time, it minimises mispurchases and reduces unnecessary returns.
