Halal Marketplace

As the demand for online halal food continues to grow and more new generations turn to online shopping, Yeshalal aims to become the go-to online marketplace in Belgium and the Netherlands for a wide range of halal-certified products, delivered right to your home. There’s no need to visit multiple physical stores to find what you’re looking for. Yeshalal is designed to provide a smooth shopping experience for both buyers and sellers.

The challenges

The first challenge was creating a marketplace that offers a seamless shopping experience for both consumers and retailers, while also providing an platform for vendors to sell their products. Which could scale efficiently across Belgium and the Netherlands.

The next challenge was the halal certification. How can consumers be sure that a product is properly certified and comes from a trustworthy source? And how can a seller on the marketplace effectively display and validate their halal certificates to earn the trust of potential buyers? For Yeshalal, maintaining transparency and authenticity is crucial.

Another larger challenge is changing the current behavior of people who are used to going to physical stores for their halal groceries. However, the younger generation is already more comfortable with online shopping, making the transition smoother for the older generation.

User journeys & flows

Based on the different personas, we created the different user journeys. For both consumers and retailers, we looked at the process of ordering. And for vendors, the focus was more on the registration process, adding products, managing orders, and uploading the halal certificates.

User experience

When creating the structure and layout, it was important to consider the different paths users take through the marketplace. For this, I worked out the wireframes, which gave good insights in these paths and showed where potential improvements could be made at an early stage.

Realisation

When designing the marketplace, the primary goal was to create a product-focused appearance. For consumers and retailers, it means they can easily access the products and information they need to make a purchasing decisions. As for vendors, when products are presented in a clear and organized manner, potential buyers are more likely to find their products, increasing the chances of conversions and sales.
